Dear Singers,
Warm Autumn Greetings! I have a few notes for next week, and the reminder that we are not holding the Sunday rehearsal this week! Also note the announcement of our dress rehearsal schedule for this concert.
In addition to the musical elements below, I would like us to think about what makes the chorus compelling for us, personally. Let's also think about how our chorus might be compelling for others in the community. Who knows about the Chorus, who doesn't? Do your friends know about our concert, and what we are singing?
NOTES
We have rehearsed the first two movements of Malyi and Fauré. We emphasized the vowel "O" throughout the rehearsal, and there are inherent benefits in how that vowel encourages an open throat:
positive effect on how we breath and
how we shape our instrument in producing sound, and it
provides ample opportunity for resonance.
Throughout the week, remember
posture!
breathing for singing!
vocalizing (including speech) with supportive posture and breathing, and an "o"-pen throat.
Say "hi" to someone new to you as you arrive to rehearsal - we encourage community greatly by committing ourselves to offering a simple "hello" or smile. Remember name tags.

NEXT REHEARSAL
Malyi Movement 5, and review of 1 & 2. Please use the part files on our website!
Fauré:
Movement 2 review
Movement 5 (at long last - wonderfully rewarding singing)
Close with "in paradisum" - can we memorize that?
Fauré: in the previous week/s, I asked you to listen to movement 5, Agnus Dei, to appreciate the lyrical melodic quality of some parts, and change in harmonic color of others. This week, we will explore how "Agnus Dei" is similar to and different from the first movement.
And other things...
Sincerely,
Jeff
