With extremely limited rehearsal time, the Chorus and soloists finally performed Salve Regina following cancellation of the December concert. Several singers were not able to join this rescheduled performance: we acknowledge that we would not know the piece so well without your support in preparing it! Fortuntately, our soloists Eleanor and Tevan were available, as was pianist Ronnie Romano, to help bring this piece to its premiere.
Congratulations and deepest thanks to Dmytro Malyi for his wonderful piece!

Salve Regina by Dmytro Malyi
Middlebury College Community Chorus
Eleanor Mayerfeld and Tevan Goldberg, soloists
Jeffrey Buettner, conductor
Ronnie Romano, pianist
Free and open to the public!
Teryn and Stephan will share a 20-minute program with a little bit of Q&A/auditience discussion, after which we will finally perform our beloved commission. Jeff Buettner will contextualize the piece with a few introductory comments, and we may demonstrate the opening motives & musical ideas of select movements before we perform the piece in its entirety.
Our performance is therefore somewhat less formal, and I hope that we will sing the piece with the idea of sharing this music that we came to know, and avoid any sense of overwhelm that we may not have the rehearsal time we would prefer for this particular event!
Our goal overall is to raise and reinforce awareness of the challenge and persistent threat to Ukrainians and Ukrainian culture. I further hope we can appreciate that this is also a matter of global human rights, that the future of human respect for individual and cultural identity is very much intertwined with the global reaction to Ukraine's needs.
