Vivid Obedient Plant/False Dragonhead

It's named the vivid obedient plant because the florets stay in place when placed in a certain position, hence the word "obedient."

Useful and Interesting Information:

  • Care of the vivid obedient plant consists of allowing it partial to full sun exposure, watering it an average amount, and placing it in both fertile and moist soil. Overall, it requires low to average maintenance.

  • This plant grows best in flower beds and borders, in cottage gardens, rain gardens, and prairies.

  • The vivid obedient plant is resistant to deer and is often both disease and pest free.

  • It won the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit in 1993.

  • This plant has a tall stalk with multiple moveable purple/pinkish florets and buds along the top half and thin willow shaped leaves with rugged edges around the bottom half.

  • Specimen measurements: height = 20cm, leaf length = 1.5 - 4.5 cm, bloom length = 2.75 cm, bloom width = 1 cm
