Students will use found materials from their surroundings to create a wearable necklace, bracelet, or sculpture.
Between one - five wrappers that covered produce)- ( chip bags, fruit nets, water bottle case wrappers, etc.)- free (if you can find them in your house)- $10

Homemade Necklace/ bracelets are suitable for all ages! It’s an affordable activity that helps develop executive functioning skills and resourcefulness during the pandemic.
Lower School- Creating homemade necklaces/ bracelets out of wrappers and found notions helps develop motor and fine motor skills by using their imagination, which allows the room for play. Play is critical for students' emotional development and self motor skills. ( the decline of play, Peter Gray.). It also helps students practice being resourceful.
Middle School- Experimentation of Homemade necklaces/ bracelets is a way of combating middle schoolers self consciousness. The fear of the finish piece tends to interfere with students' openness to create. Homemade necklaces is a way of combating this intimidation by allowing students to explore their creativity through play. (Kerlavage, p. 50-54)
Upper School- Scavenging materials of Homemade necklaces/ bracelets is a way for students to think critically about the use of symbolism through materials/ objects. Because students tend to make work about their identity, using materials around the house can help exercise their visual literacy to orchestrate meaning. (Kerlavage, p.58)

Learners could create very interesting jewelry. They also will exploring with spacial relation, material management, and ingenuity.
Students can experiment by making other jewelry pieces.
Students can explore the idea of fun as a way of investigating and organic wearable sculptures.
Students can build off the the symbolism of objects and exercise their visual literacy skills to communicate something about themselves.
