Subject Description

Sport and recreation activities can encompass aspects such as social and competitive sports, fitness programs and outdoor pursuits. These activities are an intrinsic part of Australian culture and, for many people, form a substantial component of their leisure time. Participation in sports and recreation can also provide employment opportunities and make positive contributions to a person’s total well being.

The subject of Sport and Recreation focuses on the role of sport and recreation in the lives of individuals and communities. It is a subject that provides students with opportunities to learn in, through and about sports and active recreation activities.

What will students learn?

In studying Sport and Recreation, students will learn about 4 core topics:

Sport and recreation involves students working individually, in groups and in teams. Students will be involved in acquiring, applying and evaluating information about and in physical activities and performances, planning and organising activities, investigating solutions to individual and community challenges, and using suitable technologies where relevant.

How will students be assessed?

Students will complete the following assessments: 

50% practical and 50% theoretical

Internal Assessments: 1 assessment per module ( 4 modules per year)
