Senior students have the opportunity to compete for over $75,000 in local scholarships and awards during the spring of their senior year. These scholarships and awards are made possible through donations from benefactors from Miamisburg and the Dayton Area, as well as the Miamisburg Schools Education Foundation and the Dayton Foundation.
All senior students will be given a packet of information on the scholarships and awards available during the senior meetings held in January. Scholarship meetings will be held on the following dates:
December 10th, 2024 (Brief meeting of the overall process, all Seniors at MHS)
January 27th, 2025 (Students last names A-D & all CTC seniors)
January 28th, 2025 (Students last names E-K)
January 29th, 2025 (Students last names L-Z)

Local Scholarships
LaSertoma Club of Dayton
The LaSertoma Club of Dayton sponsors a Youth Service Award that recognizes students in both Montgomery and Preble Counties who are involved with their local community. They focus on volunteerism and engagement in the school and local community. Miamisburg High School selects one student who will be recognized by the LaSertoma Club of Dayton at an Awards Ceremony in the Winter.

American Legion Post 165
An award for a MHS senior pursuing a career in political science, social studies education, public service, or administration. Must have a seven semester GPA of at least 2.5.
Easterling Studios
An award will be granted to a MHS graduating senior majoring in Graphic Design, Journalism, or any art field.
Cpl. Stephen Craig Combs, USMC
Stephen Craig Combs was raised in Miamisburg. He was the middle child of six children in a combined family. Immediately upon completion of high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served 8 years on active duty, including combat experience during the Gulf War. An award will be granted to a MHS graduating senior in good standing, who must be a US Citizen, be the first of their family to pursue higher education and be planning to attend a community college in the fall of 2019 (to include trade or vocational school); OR the senior in good standing has enlisted in the United States Marine Corps (USMC) after graduation from high school and can produce verification of such from their recruiter. Priority will be given to a student from a single parent household (for the education/trade/vocation aspect). If there are no applicants that meet the above criteria, it will be opened to enlistees from any branch of the US military requiring verification from their recruiter and departure for basic training within 90 days of graduation.
Heidelberg University/Hieronymus
An award will be given to a student graduating from MHS and has been accepted and will be attending Heidelberg University. Recipient must maintain a 2.5 or better GPA and provide proof of financial need with SAR.
Joann Wead Music Award
This award is given by the Miamisburg Alumni Band in memory of Joann Wead. Joann was a 1975 graduate of Miamisburg. She played trumpet and French horn in high school and most of her social life revolved around other band members. When the Alumni Band was formed for the Bicentennial in 2018, she was quick to get on board. She was very dedicated and took private lessons so she could play at her very best. She was instrumental in helping organize events and choose music that best suited the Alumni Band. At the age of 65 she was taken from us suddenly by Pancreatic cancer. Her infectious laugh is sorely missed by the band along with her musical contribution and organizational skills.
John Beachler Memorial
The John Beachler Memorial Award was established as a memorial tribute to the hard work, love, and dedication John showed in his life. John was a 1974 graduate of Miamisburg High School. He retired from the City of Miamisburg Public Works Department with over 30 years of service. John passed away in December 2022 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. His award will benefit a male and female bowler graduating from Miamisburg High School who show his same characteristics and enjoyment of bowling as John. Students must meet the following criteria in order to apply: must have competed on MHS bowling team for 2 years, minimum 2.5 GPA, and plan to further education in college.
Merle Williams Memorial/Lions Club Award
An award will be awarded in memory of Merle Williams to a MHS senior majoring in music. Recipient must be involved in community service or active in a church. Minimum GPA of 2.5. Applicants must have been involved in the music program at MHS a minimum of 2 years and have a letter of recommendation from someone in the high school music program. Must provide a letter of acceptance from a college.
MHS Girls Soccer Scholarship
The MHS Girls Soccer Program is pleased to offer a scholarship to a graduating senior who has a 2.0 GPA or above, plans to attend a 4 or 2 year college/university or trade school, and who is a member of the girls soccer program.
Miamisburg Classroom Teacher Association
An award will be given to a MHS senior in the upper 25% of their class, demonstrates financial need, and has a teacher recommendation. Preference will be given to students entering the field of education.
Miamisburg High School Swimming & Diving
Awards will be given to one female and one male graduating senior accepted at a college or university with a minimum GPA of 2.50. Applicant must be a member of the MHS Swimming & Diving Team in good standing for at least 2 years. Applicant will exhibit leadership qualities, character, pride, hard work and drive for success.
Miamisburg Rotary/H.V. Bear Memorial Award
An award will be granted to a graduating MHS senior accepted by a college with a minimum GPA of 2.50. Applicant must be a Rotary Interact Club member in good standing. Must be involved in school and/or community service.
Miamisburg Rotary/Glenn C. Brandon Memorial Award
An award will be granted to a graduating MHS senior accepted by a college with a minimum GPA of 2.50. Applicant must be a Rotary Interact Club member in good standing. Must be involved in school and/or community service.
Miamisburg Wee Vikes Award
This award will be granted to a MHS student that has participated in Wee Vikes. Applications must include an essay on how participation in this program has helped you.
Miamisburg Middle School
Must have attended Miamisburg City Schools for 6-8th grades. Have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 Describe your fondest memory of your Middle School years.
MHS Boys' Soccer Booster Award
Graduating MHS senior accepted to a two- or four-year post-secondary institution; member of boys' soccer program for at least two years; minimum 2.5 GPA through second quarter of senior year; demonstrates the five core values established for all boys' soccer participants.
American Pride Trucking- Hard Work Wins Award
"Once you've wrestled everything else in life is easy"- Dan Gable. With that in mind, the Kersey family has been blessed to have our 3 children come through Miamisburg Wrestling throughout the years. Each was able to become part of something greater and take away life skills that will last forever. Now we are blessed to be able to give back to the next generations of Miamisburg Wrestlers. Candidates will need to have been a member of Miamisburg Wrestling for 4 years of High School, have a solid academic performance, and be good stewards of their community. Plans for post-secondary education at a college or a trade school are required.
The Dennis "Hud" Critzer Memorial
The Dennis “Hud” Critzer award will be granted to graduating seniors who will be furthering their education. The recipients of this award must have lettered in a varsity sport or as an athletic trainer and reflect the qualities of “Hud”.
Larry E. O'Neil
O'Neil is pleased to offer a $3,000 scholarship to a graduating senior. MHS senior must plan to attend college. The senior must be able to demonstrate academic achievement, community/school involvement and financial need.
Miami Valley Professional Firefighters Local 1832 Memorial
This award will be granted to an eligible Miamisburg High School senior who has demonstrated potential for or who plan on pursuing a career in public safety, or public service. The applicant must be accepted as a full time student at a public or private institution of higher learning accredited to award a degree in a career field. Applicant must submit transcripts for 6 semesters. Please include class rank and GPA. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
LUNF (Honoring Marine Corporal Paul W. Zanowick II)
Eligible students must be a senior in HS in good standing and be planning to attend a trade school or college OR enlist in one of the branches of the military after graduation from high school.
Ryan Smith Memorial Award
Ryan Smith was a standout state qualifying wrestler at MHS and attended Ohio University, where he wrestled for the Bobcats. Ryan battled cancer as vigorously as he wrestled; with enthusiasm, vigor and perseverance. The Ryan Smith Memorial Award was established to help others as a way of remembering his legacy to the sport at MHS. Applicants should have a GPA of 2.5 or above and demonstrate commitment to the sport of wrestling and/or football at MHS.
Viking Heating and Air Baseball/Softball Award
An award will be granted to a MHS graduating senior who has been accepted at a school of higher learning. Each applicant must have lettered in baseball or softball. Priority will be given to a student/athlete who exemplifies character and integrity.
Joyce Thomas Bentley Memorial Fund
This award will be granted, by Joyce’s family, to a graduating senior majoring in a teaching or education degree. Joyce was a teacher and librarian and she believed that ‘children are our future’. She was fully invested in helping children achieve their goals and was present when one of her former students received the National Teacher Award. Each applicant must submit a recent grade transcript including ACT and/or SAT scores. An essay must be included by each applicant detailing their desire to pursue a degree in education.
Miamisburg Basketball Association Award
The Miamisburg Basketball Association Award will grant two awards to two eligible and deserving Miamisburg High School individuals. One male and one female will receive $500 to use towards the cost of tuition, fees, books, supplies, and/or equipment. The applicant must be accepted as a full-time student at a public or private institution of higher learning accredited to award a degree in a career field. The applicant must have participated in an MBA recreational or select program for at least three (3) years. Recipients must attend the institution immediately following high school graduation. Applicant must submit an application (provided) and high school transcripts. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applications with all required documents must be returned to the High School Guidance Department.
Spring Fest in the Burg Award
Spring Fest in the Burg is a community festival featuring a weekend of 150 artisans, carnival rides, a parade, local food vendors, and live music. Our mission is to fundraise for community projects, support local art and music, and to put on an amazing event. Spring Fest is offering three $1,000 awards. Eligible students are those who have shown an outstanding commitment to community service OR the arts throughout their high school career. The three selected seniors must be present to accept their award during the festival.
Dayton Montgomery County Scholarship
Senior students who have a GPA of 2.750 and are attending college are eligible to apply for the Dayton Montgomery County Scholarship. This scholarship is need based and the FASFA is required to apply. Counseling Services will meet with all of the students who qualify and give them information on applying. The application is completed online. Dayton Montgomery County also have other scholarships opportunities for Miamisburg students. For more information visit your Counseling Services Department.
