We added to the growing body of work concerning temporal patterns within turn-taking sequences of nonhuman primates.
Woolly monkeys were found to follow the conventional rules of turn-taking with minimal overlap and short delays between exchanges.
The 2500 ms inter-call duration threshold is consistent with observations of turn-taking in western lowland gorillas6 and bonobos5 suggesting a common model among primates regarding the temporal relationships of turn-taking sequences.
