As the world crossed to a new year, a strain of a deadly virus accompanied them to the new year. Through a small industrial town called Wuhan in the Hubei province in China, a virus was born. Some researcher speculates that the starting point of the infection was the wet market found in the town where the source of the virus was from bat meat (Mike, 2020). Even though the virus is speculated to source from the animal, especially the mammal, one thing that the researchers were completely confident about is the rate at which the virus spread (William, 2020). It was alarming that after a few days that the medical practitioners discovered a new character of the illness, which was becoming popular in the area, a vast number of people became infected by the virus daily (Nature, 2020). This study will seek to discover the narrative coronavirus, also called the COVID-19. The study will even venture on the mode and speed of contraction of the virus and how the government of china dealt with the situation, the strategies they employed, and the effectiveness of the plan.
Coronavirus, also known as COVID-19, is a virus that belongs to a broader family of viruses that share a typical character of causing respiratory disease (Mike, 2020). The family consists of illnesses like the common cold, pneumonia, and others like middle east respiratory syndrome. The 2019 coronavirus is unique as it has a higher contingency rate and lower fatality rate than the rest coronaviruses.
The coronavirus pandemic started in a very informal way when two, and it was only noticed when the health workers observed that at the end of the year 2019, there was an increase in the patients who were suffering from an unknown respiratory disease. The reason why it is called strange is that as the patient was tested for known respiratory illness, they turned out to be negative, so it raised suspicion (WHO., 2020). It was until the WHO set path to investigate what was happening that they realized that there was a new strain of the respiratory effecting virus that was spreading fact in china. On the first of January 2020, the WHO set an incident management support team that was tasked with the role of establishing the virus in circulation (William, 2020). By the time they were building that there was a virus spreading, it was too late. The virus had started spreading to other provinces across china's republic. In this stage, the government of China did not have any understanding of the illness (Mike, 2020). They had first to seek knowledge on the virus.
The first thing the government of China did was to educate it public on the virus and how they could take part in preventive measure. The government realized that they would not win the COVID-19 on their wone. They had to indulge the public (Jay, 2020). This contributed to the war on the pandemic as the public became vigilant and ensured all the precautionary measure that was observed (Mike, 2020). The audience was to wear masks, maintain social distance, and high levels of hygiene. This was one of the reasons why the Chinese spread of the virus reduced significantly.
Due to the increase in the infection, the medical system was being stretched, and if the war on COVID-19 was to be a success, the government realized that they had to invest in the infrastructure, especially the health (Jeffery, 2020). The government constructed a specialized hospital in the Hubei district whose purpose was to deal with corona victims. But this is not working as more and more people were becoming a victim of the virus (Jeffery, 2020). The government had to take a strict measure that would stop the spread. By now, the government had the information from the researchers that the virus spread through contaminated droplets from the mouth to the nose and mouth of another healthy person (Rabindra, 2020). The government started the campaign on breaking the chain of spread. This would come with several activities. First, the government bunded public gathering as there was a need for everyone to maintain social distance; second, the government introduced traveling suction as most countries now did not accept visitors from china in their country, so the Chinese government though that everyone should stay in their own homes.
Mandatory geographic quarantine was the most effective action that the chines government deployed in the fight against the spread of the virus (Jay, 2020). This reduced the contraction rate by 60%. People were only allowed to go from their house only when attending the hospital under a particular need. In other conditions, they were supported to make their purchase online, and the food and necessity would be supplied to them (Rabindra, 2020). the absence of the social gathering gave the government a chance to fumigate the areas where the virus was said to dwell like busy streets and universal joints (Mike, 2020). Those who were sick were taken care of effectively as the government now had control of their public and health institution.
The government of china's strategies and approaches towards the virus caused a change in the lifestyle of many people in the country. But due to the obedience of the people of china to the law and their self-discipline, the country recovered fast from the pandemic. From being the epicenter of the epidemic to being the most recovered country with no new daily infection. The justification of the Chinese fight with the outbreak can be seen cleared and is to be emulated by all countries who are in the hot pandemic soup.
