He had a hard presidency because of the war of 1812 and the conflict with the Native Americans.
The White House also burned down during his presidency.
His wife was at the White House when it burned down and managed to save multiple things from it. These included sliver, art, important documents, and most importantly: a large portrait of George Washington.
The british attacked Fort McHenry and shot overnight. The flag that stood during the bombardment and when the firing stopped the flag still stood. This inspired a lawyer named Francis Scott Key who wrote a poem that became the national anthem of the United States of America.
