George Washington was the commander-in-chief of the continental army while the American revolutionary war was still going on. Congress created The Continental Army on June 14, 1776. John Adams appointed Washington to be the Commander-in-chief.
At first George was on the side of the British during the French and Indian War. He later became upset because the British soldiers weren't getting paid evenly. In politics he was on neither side Federalist, and Democrat- Republic. He agreed with some of the Federalist polices but not all.
George Washington was elected president, and served two terms. He served from April 30,1789 to March 4, 1797. When Washington made his farewell address he warned the country not to get into wars and to not split into political parties. They country didn't listen and split up anyway.
George Washington owned a very large amount of farmland where he had grown tobacco, wheat, vegetables, apples, blueberries, hops, pears, spearmint oil, and sweet cherries on his farm.
When George Washington was 11 his father passed away after he had been exposed to the elements after being outside in a downpour. He inherited 10 slaves to help work in the fields.
When George was 17 he was working as a surveyor and had completed nearly 200 surveys.
In 1789 on april 30th George Washington was unanimously elected to the first president. His inauguration ceremony was held at the federal hall in New York. He created the government from scratch. His vice president was John Adams. His cabinet members included Thomas Jefferson the Secretary of State, Alexander Hamilton the Secretary of Treasury, Henry Fox the Secretary of War.
George Washington only served two terms before voluntarily stepping away. He made the Farewell Address, to tell the people of what to do in the future. He posted the Farewell Address on September 17, 1797. He warned the country not to separate into political parties and to not get involved in wars.
Washington passed away three years later on December 14th, 1799 due to pneumonia at the age of 67.
