Early Life
Born January 11,1755 or 1757 on the island of Nevis
He was an artillery officer
Emigrated as a teenager from British West Indies to New York
His parents were Rachel Faucett and James Hamilton.
He was the first Secretary of Treasury
He became a supporter of colonial protests against british imperial policy.
Hamilton arrived in mainland America in late 1772 and applied to the college of New Jersey(modern Princeton),but attended King's college in New York City.
He was a founding father of the United States,who fought in the American Revolutionary war and helped draft the constitution.
Hamilton spent his adolescence on the Danish possession of St.Croix.
In 1780,he married Elizabeth Schuyler
They would have eight children together,
Hamilton left Washington's staff in 1781, but returned to the army briefly after that year when Washington gave him a field command at the battle of Yorktown
Hamilton was chosen as one of three delegates from New York.
He famously made a six hour speech about his own plan for a strongly centralized government
He was an aide to Washington
He set up the united states financial system
He was a rival of Thomas Jefferson
