What is a Professional Development Plan?
A Professional Development Plan (PDP) is a roadmap for schools, programs and administrator's ongoing professional growth. It outlines specific goals, strategies, and timelines for acquiring new knowledge and skills.
Who Needs to Submit it? Members of MESD’s Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) should submit a PD plan.
Purpose of PD Plans in Education:
Enhanced Teaching and Leadership: PD Plans help the targeted audience stay current with best practices and innovative methodology.
Improved Student Outcomes: By acquiring new skills and knowledge, the audience may better support student learning and school priorities focused toward enhanced achievement.
Career Advancement: PD Plans can help the audience advance their careers by demonstrating a commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth.
Compliance with Mandates: PD Plans can ensure that schools, programs and administrators meet mandatory training requirements related to safety, child protection, and other legal obligations.
Submission Requirements for Principals, Supervisors, and Administrators
Alignment with School or Program Improvement Plans: Ensure that your PD Plan aligns with the specific goals and objectives of your school or program.
Inclusion of Mandatory Trainings: Include any mandatory training or professional learning opportunities required for providing high-quality services and student safety.
Submission Deadline: All PD Plans must be uploaded to the Google Folder "Professional Development Plans" by November 15th, 2025.
