Team activities will resume after the break. Enjoy the time off. See you again on April 7.

UPDATE: Settings have now been adjusted and the full season of "Practice and Meet Schedule" may now be viewed under the "MEMS Track & Field" tab above.

Attendance at all scheduled practices and meets is expected by candidates selected for the team
Candidates should review the complete dates of committment, and if conflicts exist that will require absences from team activities, reconsider their candidacy and ability to committ to the team

Eligibility

In order to tryout a candidate MUST (1) Be academically eligible, (2) Receive medical clearance from the MEMS health office, and (3) A parental consent form must be in Coach Mayer or Coach Greitz's possession (received through the health office).

Team Selections

The Track & Field team is a competitive, interscholastic team and NOT and intramural activity. Everyone does NOT make the team
Selections are based on the candidates performance during each day of the tryout period
In addition to a candidate's performance times and distances, final determinations about team selection will consider the following criteria such as: attitude, commitment to team events, motivation, and willingness to work hard and improve themself

Track & Field Events

100 meter (shortest racing distance at 1/4 of track length)

200 meter (1/2 of track length that includes a curved segment and final straight segment)

400 meter (1 full length of track that includes 2 curves and 2 straight segments)

800 meter (2 full lengths of the track)

1600 meter (4 full lengths of the track)

Long Jump (jump forward for distance after a running approach)

High Jump (jump with height in order to clear a bar set at measured distance from the ground)

Shot Put (propel a 9.2 lb "shot" for distance using one arm)

Discus Throw (propel a weighted disc for distance using one arm)
