Once you have established a daily personal practice in mindfulness for at least a month, you may be ready to introduce it to your classroom.
There are two primary ways mindfulness can benefit your teaching practice and classroom:
1. Using mindfulness for your own self-care and teaching approaches
2. Teaching mindfulness for students to use for their direct benefit.
***It is vital to know that you will be sharing your personal experiences of practice with your students. If your implementation of mindfulness is not guided by your personal use, it can fail or even be detrimental to the well being of students. DO NOT use mindfulness if you are not convinced of its effectiveness in your own practice.***
Follow these steps thoroughly and you can bring the power of mindfulness to your classroom.
1. Deepen your understanding of mindful practice.
2. Discover a responsive mindful approach and apply it to your work.
3. Introduce mindfulness to your students with care, courtesy, and kindness.
4. Continue to extend and expand your practice!
