Helpful Websites:
1. Nonsense Word Fluency Test - this evaluates their knowledge of phonics rules. Students read as many “nonsense” words as they can in 1 minute. We score them on the number of correct letter sounds and the number of words read correctly.
2. Word Reading Fluency Test - this evaluates their ability to correctly read grade level words in 1 minute.
3. Oral Reading Fluency - this evaluates their ability to read with accuracy and automaticity or fluency. Students read a grade level passage in 1 minute and we score them on the number of correct words and errors.
4. The Maze - this assessment evaluates their comprehension. Students read a grade level passage in 3 minutes. As they read, they encounter a box with 3 word choices. Students choose which of the 3 words correctly completes the sentence to keep the meaning of the story in tact.
