Health Education

Elementary 


The K-4 health experience is based on the SHAPE America National Standards and incorporates pieces of the Healthy Lifestyle Choices curriculum. Units of study are integrated with physical education and focus on skill development.  These skills include; analyzing influences, accessing valid health information, using interpersonal communication, healthy decision-making, goal-setting, and advocating for improved health. 


Middle School 


The 5-8 health program is based on the SHAPE America National Standards.  Like the elementary curriculum, middle school health focuses on skill acquisition in the areas of analyzing influences, accessing valid health information, using interpersonal communication, healthy decision-making, goal-setting, and advocating for improved health. 

High School 

The 9-12 Wellness experience is based on the SHAPE America National Standards. Students enroll in a wellness course each year.  Courses include IPEC (Interdisciplinary Physical Education Curriculum), IPEC 2, and Personal Health and Wellness 1 and 2. Like the elementary and middle school curriculum, the high school health units focus on skill acquisition in the areas of analyzing influences, accessing valid health information, using interpersonal communication, healthy decision-making, goal-setting, and advocating for improved health.
