Medway Public Schools Wellness Model

As highlighted by the Strategic Plan, Medway Public Schools is dedicated to fostering the social, emotional, and healthy development of all students.  To ensure that this goal is met, the Medway Public Schools’ Wellness Department has adopted the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) model.

Working within the structure of the WSCC model Medway Public School's Wellness Department uses evidence-based practices to enhance the social, emotional, and physical well-being of all students.  Wellness programs and initiatives are designed to support students in areas of greatest need. Areas of need are determined by examining multiple sources of student data. The most prominent data source is the MetroWest Adolescent Health Survey: 2021 MetroWest Adolescent Health Survey Results Presentation.

Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child

The WSCC was developed by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), as an expansion of the Coordinated School Health (CSH) approach.  The WSCC model focuses on the child, stresses a school-wide approach, and recognizes health, learning, and the school as being a part and reflection of the local community. By putting an emphasis on youth, concentrating on important education and health outcomes, coordinating collaborative programs and initiatives that support students, and engage local resources, the WSCC approach provides an opportunity to improve enhance the healthy development and educational attainment for students.  To read more about the WSCC model, please visit this fact sheet.
