In addition to our MacEmerg Podcast, there are a lot of other online educational resources that we recommend that you check out. Here is a listing of some sites that we recommend (since many of our faculty members run, volunteer, or contribute to them!).
1. CanadiEM (https://canadiem.org/)
A number of our faculty members including Drs. Kevin Dong, Teresa Chan, Shawn Mondoux, Kerstin de Wit, Alim Pardhan are frequent contributors to this website. Many of our trainees have also contributed their work on this site, including Drs. Alvin Chin, Alicia Greer, Paula Sneath, Sameer Sharif, Blair Bigham, Kathryn Chan... and more! It is an amalgamated site that blended a number of Canadian #FOAMed websites into a one-stop shop!
2. ALiEM (www.aliem.com)
This site has also featured the work of multiple faculty from McMaster. Drs. Jonathan Sherbino, Jennifer Tang, Alim Pardhan, Shawn Mondoux, Michelle Welsford, and Kaif Pardhan have also contributed at various times to the blog series, in particular the Medical Education in Cases series. Several of our trainees.
3. EM Sim Cases (www.emsimcases.com)
Developed by Dr. Kyla Caners, EM Sim Cases has taken the world by storm, providing open access simulation cases for the world to use. With contributors from around the world, EM Sim Cases has a force to be reckoned with! With our own Dr. Caners at the helm, there was never a doubt that it would flourish.
4. KeyLime Podcast (https://keylimepodcast.libsyn.com/)
Our own Dr. Sherbino co-hosts this medical education podcast with a number of other #MedEd gurus from Canada. (NB: Listen to the 2018 December episodes to hear what Dr. Sherbino's "elf name" is...)
5. International Clinician Educator's Blog (https://icenetblog.royalcollege.ca/)
For many years this blog has been edited by Dr. Jonathan Sherbino, and has featured work by Dr. Teresa Chan and many other medical educators from across the country. It now also alerts you to the latest KeyLime podcast, but also has lots of tips and tricks for upping your game as a clinician educator.
6. Emergency Medicine Cases (https://emergencymedicinecases.com/)
Run by Dr. Anton Helman, this podcast is really a great podcast for those who are interested in keeping up to date around core emergency medicine topics. Dr. Helman is an attending at North York General Hospital, so he knows what it's like to be at a busy Canadian emergency department. His episodes have featured various McMaster faculty members including Drs. Kerstin de Wit, Jonathan Sherbino, Anthony Crocco, Andrew Worster, Paul Miller, and Teresa Chan.
7. The Skeptics Guide to Emergency Medicine (http://thesgem.com/)
Dr. Ken Milne, friend of the BEEM crew and champion of EBM, is the podcaster behind the SGEM podcast. He makes keeping up to date on journal articles enjoyable and fun - with a healthy dose of 1980s and 90s music to keep you awake as he reviews the latest papers!
