We have divided our definitions of programming for individualized improvement.
1. Coaching - For us, coaching means goal setting for improvement in your clinical practice. This program is still under construction, but generally speaking, individuals will we matched with a coach who will help them to achieve a specific data-driven goal that they would like to accomplish. Goals may include improved billing practices, more efficient clinical supervision/teaching on shift, better time management in the department. In the beginning, we will likely only have a small roster of coaches, but hopefully over the course of the next few years, we will develop more of you into capable and amazing coaches. The role of the coach will be to work with you to set goals, but also to come and act as an observer/discussant in the area to provide you feedback that can help you to achieve your goals. In the near future, we will be asking for volunteers to undergo a special coaching training session to become a coach for those interested in becoming better clinical teachers. Please email Teresa Chan if you are interested in being part of the pilot coaching program.
2. Mentorship - Mentorship to us means a more longitudinal opportunity for fostering your career satisfaction and growth, outside of the clinical sphere. We know that many people have had part of mentorship programs that don't work very well in the past, so we are aiming to create something that does work for you - by allowing you to customize your mentorship more fully. Our team is hard at work creating a new Do-It-Yourself mentorship guide that will flip the mentorship process in general! This should be quite ground breaking and exciting. Stay tuned for more details.
