To Whom It May Concern,
Please accept this letter as a recommendation for Kristen Kaiser as a Visual Arts teacher in your school district.
Over a 7 week period, I served as the teaching mentor for Kristen’s elementary school internship as part of her Master’s of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program at Maine College of Art (MECA). It was a pleasure to mentor Kristen during her time at Poland Community School (PCS) in Poland, Maine. PCS is a public elementary school, Pre-K to 6th Grade, with approximately 500 students.
During Kristen’s time at PCS, she weekly prepared lessons for, and taught, 21 regular Visual Arts classes, 2 Enrichment classes, 2 small groups of Gifted & Talented Art students, and she helped lead a 2 hour long, after-school Art Club offered through Poland Recreation Department. During Kristen’s 7 weeks at PCS, I observed her to be an immensely talented individual with a high level of competence in everything she undertakes. As a teacher, Kristen was hardworking, reflective, responsive, and eager to improve her practice. The students and staff of PCS thoroughly enjoyed Kristen and her lessons. Kristen has a strong ability to connect with students, staff, and parents. Kristen created engaging lessons that differentiated between abilities and allowed all students to equally access the skills and content being taught. Kristen’s lesson were fun, interesting and challenging.
Lastly, I would like to address Kristen’s character. It was a true joy to get to know Kristen during her internship. She is a trustworthy, dependable, humorous, and skilled individual. She will bring a wealth of experience and ability to both your school and to your Visual Arts program. I am confident that Kristen will prove herself to be an excellent educator; a professional and reflective practitioner; and a caring part of your district’s community.
Sincerely,
Jonathan W. Graffius
