Many colleges and universities require a student to earn two credits in a Foreign Language to be accepted into college. This is not a requirement of high school graduation.
Spanish I
This course is designed to give the student an introduction to the target language and culture. The student will learn the basic structure of the target language through a study of grammar and vocabulary. The student will be involved in listening comprehension, speaking, reading, writing, and cultural activities.
Spanish II Pre-Req: Spanish I
This course emphasized communication through speaking, listening, writing, and reading. This course will present the more complex structures of Level I and will expand upon cultural themes. The student will acquire command of the vocabulary and structures necessary for personal communication as well as an appreciation of the breadth and variety of the regions that speak the target language.
Spanish III H Pre-Req: Spanish II
This course is designed as a continuation of level II. Through the study of more advanced grammatical structures and vocabulary, the student will continue to develop skills in listening comprehension, speaking, reading and writing. The student will increase his/her knowledge of the target language and its cultures.
AP Spanish IV H Pre-Req: Spanish III H
This course is designed as a continuation of level III. Through the study of more advanced grammatical structures and vocabulary, the student will continue to develop skills in listening comprehension, speaking, reading and writing. Within the course work of level IV, the student will also prepare for the Advanced Placement Examination. Students will be required to take the AP test in the spring.
