CIS is an Independent Study program offered through MDUSD. CIS supports students in grades 9-12. CIS meets the same requirements as a traditional comprehensive high school and is a University of California a-g approved program for high school students. Students in CIS navigate the full caseload of high school independently. Students in CIS meet once a week with a teacher to review their work completion and progress.
To participate in CIS, students must speak with their school counselor and complete the application for CIS.
The Home & Hospital school is a temporary program designed to help maintain a student’s academic standing during a time of illness or other temporary disability. Home & Hospital is not a credit recovery program. Students are entitled to a maximum of 5 hours per week of home instruction. The teacher will be there at times agreed upon and at a minimum of up to 1 hour per day. No sessions are allowed on holidays or weekends. A responsible adult (18 years or older) must be present when the teacher is in the home.

Housed at Diablo Valley College, College Now students take a block of three high school courses taught by MDUSD teachers. College Now students will take the rest of their courses at DVC with other community college students and they will earn both high school and college credit for those DVC classes. Classes are chosen according to MDUSD graduation requirements as well as the interests and post-secondary plans of the student. Students choose their DVC classes with the help of a MDUSD high school counselor and a DVC college counselor.
College Now is an exciting opportunity for MDUSD students. Any interested and eligible MDUSD student is welcomed and encouraged to apply. The next application process will take place in the Spring for classes beginning in August. Prospect is a slightly smaller continuation school, serving around 100 students and is an option for students who are not on track to graduate. Prospect is located in Pleasant Hill on the Pleasant Hill Middle School campus.

Olympic is a slightly larger continuation school located in Concord, serving approximately 400 students and is another option for students who are not on track to graduate.

A WASC accredited alternative education program that serves pregnant and parenting teens in the Mt. Diablo School District. Crossroads offers a full range of high school curriculum for students to graduate from our school with a high school diploma. Students occasionally transfer back to their home school to graduate with their class, but Crossroads offers full time child care on our campus. Crossroads is a wonderful option for students who are pregnant or parenting because of all the resources they provide for a healthy pregnancy and birth, as well as childcare, lactation specialists and parenting classes as a support built into their program.
