Sometimes people express negativity. It's important to remember that all emotions are contagious..and you can choose which ones you take on.
Understand that being negative is just one person's perspective. You can shift that perspective for yourself, and perhaps for them.
Add some kindness and be assertive. Give a positive spin on whatever is being discussed. It could change the whole discussion.
Step away! Get out of the scene when you recognize that someone is being negative if it is bringing you down.
