Almost, Maine by John Cariani
Directed by Mark Puglisi
May 19-20
Almost, Maine by Maine playwright John Cariani is a collection of nine interconnected scenes that take place in the fictional town of Almost, Maine in "the County". The play explores the theme of love through a series of vignettes that feature different couples struggling with the complexities of romantic relationships. Each scene is set against the backdrop of the Aurora Borealis, which serves as a metaphor for the elusive and often unpredictable nature of love. As the characters grapple with issues of intimacy, commitment, and vulnerability, they come to realize that the only constant in love is its inherent unpredictability.
Through these different stories, the play explores love, heartbreak, connection, and the human need for intimacy and understanding. With humor, poignancy, and a touch of magical realism, Almost, Maine offers a fresh and engaging take on the most universal theme of all.
