The Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) is the work-based learning (WBL) component of the Agribusiness pathway.
Students pick an agricultural related project to complete in accordance with SAE guidelines. Options for projects are described in-detail below. Many of these projects can then be used to meet the state work- based learning requirements.
Students explore possible careers through research and job shadowing. Students learn financial literacy skills and workplace safety that help prepare them for their chosen career. They then present what they have learned through this experience.
Students are employed (paid or unpaid) at an agriculture-related job. They keep record of their hours, income, and tasks. They are evaluated by their employer and their agriculture instructor regularly & then complete a reflection on their experience.
Students plan, conduct, and evaluate a project designed to provide a service to the school, public entities, or the community. They complete a written plan, identify stakeholders, and gather resources & volunteers, then write a reflection at the conclusion of the project.
A student conducting a research SAE is involved in an investigation of materials, processes and information to establish new knowledge or the validation of previous research. Students keep detailed records of their process, data, and results and write a reflection of their experience.
Students own and operate their own agricultural-related business. They keep detailed records on expenditures, income, debt, inventory, and sales. Students are evaluated by their agriculture instructor and complete a reflection on their experience.
This is a student-led business that provides goods or services. They operate from the school campus using facilities, equipment, and resources provided by the agriculture program or the school in general. Students keep records on income, expenditures, inventory, sales, etc.
