We’re excited to share some festive news - the Montrose Children’s Museum will be managing Santa’s Cabin for the City of Montrose this year!
We are looking for a few wonderful volunteers to help us fill out the schedule. Please take a look at the available dates and use the link below to sign up for a shift.
To sign up, add your name and information to an open volunteer slot.
Each shift is 3 hours long, which includes:
30 minutes to set up
2 hours for the event
30 minutes for cleanup
Volunteer tasks include:
Preparing and serving hot chocolate
Passing out s’mores supplies
Starting and safely putting out a small fire
Helping families enter and exit the cabin
Answering questions for visitors
Your help makes the season brighter for families in our community, and we couldn’t do it without you.

Museum of the Mountain West is always seeking volunteers to help with renovations, upkeep, and special events onsite. For example they have a young group of Boy Scouts coming to the museum on Saturday to earn merit badges for assisting with painting the School House. Volunteers are needed to work the scaffolding and handle any technical or skilled guidance. They also have plans to reset their Carriage House and to begin restoration of the 2nd Empire House (built in 1904 and donated by the City of Montrose). Johnson Elementary is looking for active students who want to volunteer as Recess Helpers at Johnson. They have 2nd graders who need mentorship and taught how to play respectfully. Recess times are 10:30-10:50 and 12-12:20. Any students who would like to volunteer, please contact Marcie Jaramillo Marcie.Jaramillo@mcsd.org.
The Montrose Recreation District is looking for individuals 16+ to assist program leaders with the elementary After School Program at the Montrose Field House. The program runs daily after school until 5:15. Primary duties include homework help, organizing activities & games, and general support of participants. Can't help every day? That's okay they can work with your schedule. If you are interested in getting involved, you can stop by the Field House after school to pick up an application or Contact Tyler Morales at 970-964-7489 for more information.
