Multi-Tiered System of Supports

The purpose of MCSD's MTSS framework is to provide schools with the resources necessary to implement an MTSS system aligned with Colorado's model of MTSS (COMTSS). An effective MTSS system is a prevention-based framework that uses team-driven leadership and data-based problem solving to improve the outcomes of every student through family, school, and community partnerships, comprehensive assessment, and a layered continuum of supports. Implementation science and universal design for learning are employed to create one integrated system that focuses on increasing academic and behavioral outcomes to equitably support the varying needs of all students. The intent of MCSD's MTSS is to provide differentiated instruction and research-based intervention at the earliest opportunity.  Additionally, MTSS in a collaborative endeavor that seeks to identify gaps in implementation and support schools in aligning with one another to provide authentic and engaging lessons based on 2020 Colorado Academic Standards and/or Critical Concepts. It also provides explicit expectations for gathering and tracking data, communicating with parents, and defined instructional supports for the three Tiers of MTSS.
