WHeaton (On Campus) Internships

As an Athletic Training Intern, you will observe what the Head Athletic Trainer of Wheaton High School does from injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion, immediate and emergency care, therapeutic intervention, and healthcare administration. You will assist with daily tasks while learning about the profession and seeing if it is a career for you. These tasks include assisting with first aide, preparing water for hydration stations, assisting with sport rehabilitation protocols, learning taping skills, helping manage inventory, and assisting in pre-game preparations all while getting a sideline seat to Wheaton games. 

Expectations:

1. Be willing to engage in hard work.

2. Be able to work well with others in a wide variety of work settings (sports).

3. Be comfortable under pressure and around emergencies.

4. Be enthusiastic, show interest in Sports Medicine, and have an overall positive attitude. Questions are always welcomed, and this can be a great learning opportunity based on your involvement. 

5. Be neat and clean in personal appearance (hair, makeup, clothing, hygiene, etc.).

6. Be able to establish and maintain a good relationship with all athletes, coaches, and other staff members.

7. Understand HIPPA and the privacy of athlete patient confidentiality.

8. Show respect at all times, and follow the instructions of the Licensed Athletic Trainer.

9. Be in good academic standing as academics are first. 

10. Student Interns that are maintaining jobs, or involved with other school and/or community activities will be accepted. A schedule will be worked out on an individual basis. However, a limit will be set as to the number of games and practices that can be missed.

Weekly Schedule - 

Be willing and able to work after school hours on any day of the week to cover games and treatments. This includes evenings, school holidays, and or weekends. All student athletic training interns will be required to work at least minimum 3 days out of the week.
