What is an Internship?
A directed, practical learning experience, outside of the normal classroom setting, in which students sharpen skills, gain experience through structured and monitored work-based learning experiences.
Students apply academic concepts learned through career courses at school.
Students learn how to work in a professional setting.
Students learn, practice, and apply career related & professional skills.

Why Seneca students complete an internship?
Observe & apply knowledge learned in career courses already taken at Seneca Valley
Gain confidence in career related skills
Gain / improve professional skills through working/interning in a professional work environment (I.E. Time management, communication, critical thinking, initiative, adaptability, etc.)
Explore a career prior to continuing education post high school
Create professional connections within an industry
Gain experience in a professional industry to help them gain a better job after graduation
Complete a full Seneca Valley Career Program
When do students complete an internship?
Summer before junior or senior year
During the school day, after school, or on weekends during senior year
The actual work schedule is flexible and set by the internship site and the intern
During senior year, students may add internship on their schedule in place of elective classes
