The Gentry

Among the colonists who came to St. Mary's City in 1634 were a group of wealthy Englishmen. These colonists became investors, businessmen, and government leaders. Of course these colonists were also land owners! Most of these land owners were men, but one extrordinary land owner was female. Her name was Margaret Brent.
