Ceramics offers interested students an opportunity to explore the 3 dimensional arts. In Ceramics 1 students will be introduced to a variety of hand building techniques as well as various glaze and finishing options for their products. Artworks that are created often take their influence from various cultures throughout history and around the world as well as modern artists practicing today. Once students have acquired basic hand building skills they are encouraged to refine them in our upper level Advanced Ceramics classes. In Advanced Ceramics, students have the opportunity to possibly explore a wide variety of sculptural techniques including; wheel throwing, tile making, mixed media sculptures, mold making and so on. The goal in Advanced Ceramics is to help the student develop their own artistic voice through exploration and skill refinement in the 3D arts.
All of these courses meet the requirements for the Fine Arts Credit for Graduation.
We encourage you to explore the information and examples of the art from each of the courses below.
Our teachers, Ms. Domeier and Mr. Lundquist, are also excited to answer any questions you might have about these courses.
