March 13, 2026The Seattle Seahawks dominated the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX, winning 29-13. The Patriots did not score their first points in the game until the 4th quarter, becoming the first team since 1973 to not score in the first three quarters of the Super Bowl.
Running Back, Kenneth Walker, won the MVP of Super Bowl LX, rushing for 135 yards on 27 carries. The Seahawks’ defense shut down the Patriots’ offense, forcing them to punt eight times and only allowing them to cross the 50-yard line once until the fourth quarter.
Seahawks QB Sam Darnold became the first quarterback from the 2018 draft class to win a Super Bowl, winning before Josh Allen, Baker Mayfield, and Lamar Jackson. Darnold has had a resurgence in his career after being labeled “a bust” early on during his time in the NFL.
Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba finished his best all-time season, becoming the seventh player in NFL history to win Offensive Player of the Year and the Super Bowl in the same season. He had 1,965 receiving yards, including playoffs, finishing top 4 in receiving yards in a single season all-time.
On the other hand, the Patriots’ storybook season comes to an end, after going 3-14 the year prior and now making the Super Bowl the very next year. Quarterback Drake Maye took a huge leap in this sophomore season, finishing one vote behind Rams QB Mathew Stafford for MVP.
The Patriots’ offensive line allowed 21 sacks in the playoffs, with 6 sacks in the Super Bowl. However, they also set the record for sacks allowed in a single postseason, as rookie tackle Will Campbell particularly struggled after coming back from his injury, allowing fourteen pressures and four sacks throughout the playoffs. Turnovers were the key difference in the game, with Maye throwing two interceptions, one being returned for a touchdown, and also fumbling the ball once.
