The Disappointing Class of 2025 Senior Pranks

As I arrived at school on May 22, 2025, I noticed a few irregularities at the school. There was a small amount of toilet paper in the trees and on the school, plastic forks lodged in the ground, tents in the parking lot, and a few things written in chalk on the asphalt in front of the school, some even included expletives. My initial thought was that the seniors had hosted a really weird party the night before, as it was their last day at school. And with that, I went about my day.

Two hours later, in second period, it finally hit me. The “trashing” of the school was supposed to be the class of 2025’s “senior prank.” 

But you can understand why it took me so long to get it. A prank is funny. In what world is gently draping a bit of toilet paper across the school funny? Maybe 80 years ago. Is putting plastic utensils in the ground an ingenious metaphor that only the brainy, sagacious, and perspicacious class of ‘25 understands? After all, “Seniors RULE!!!!” (as they so eloquently wrote on the blacktop in front of the school.) No. There is no world where any of this is funny. 

The “prank” wasn’t even original. It was the same “prank” as that of the class of ‘24, with the only difference being that the class of ‘24 trashed the inside of the school and made the janitors work until 10 p.m. cleaning up. Yet another milestone in comedy. The Class of ‘25’s “prank” apparently wasn’t even worth cleaning up, as the toilet paper, utensils, and whatnot remained on the school until the end of the school year.

It was actually a little depressing how no one cared, and no one liked the “prank,” including the class of ‘25. I remember just about every senior I encountered that day saying the “prank” was lame.

So if literally no one likes them, seniors don’t have enough brain cells left to think of an original prank, and the school allows them to happen, what is the point of having a senior prank? There is none. So to the class of ‘26 - if, when the time comes, your idea for a senior prank is something along the lines of having 14 seniors vomit all over the building, maybe just opt against doing a senior prank at all.
