September 10, 2025The advisory period is one of the many new implementations for Albert Einstein students during the 2025-26 school year. The advisory period replaces Titan Time, which has been going on for several years. Advisory takes place every Thursday after third period, where it provides a set time for engaging tasks, activities, slideshows, and more, all designed to enhance the academic and social aspects of school. To make it less confusing for students, homeroom and advisory are both with the third-period teacher, and there is no alternative bell schedule for homeroom anymore.
Stability and consistency are other key differences between Titan Time and the advisory period. Previously, Titan Time took place every Wednesday, rotating through the seven class periods weekly. Students and teachers both found it challenging to efficiently plan and utilize Titan Time, especially under constant schedule changes, shifting every week.
To give more insight into the purpose of the Advisory period, Principal Mark Brown stated in the Aug. 17 AEHS Newsletter, “The new schedule provides a level of accountability for students, and allows AEHS to not only deliver social emotional lessons, but also allows it to administer student surveys, better support testing, eliminate the need to change the bell schedule for teasers and homeroom, and will allow AEHS to periodically implement opportunities for study hall of amnesty days, and allows teachers and staff to better monitor student performance.” Brown added that advisory is not a study hall, but creates an opportunity to give students the brain break they might need.
The new advisory period seems to already be making a positive impact because of its more structured and consistent approach to student support and enrichment. Early feedback indicates that students already find advisory easier to manage and more beneficial. Senior Grace Gedamke notes, “I’ve always liked the idea of an advisory period or Titan Time. I do think the name change and the new set schedule of advisory this year makes things much clearer and will hopefully fix any inconsistencies or problems that have happened in previous years.”
The shift from Titan Time to the new advisory period has already made days clearer and more organized for Einstein students for the start of the 2025-26 school year. It will be interesting to see how students feel about these changes as the year progresses.
