January 16, 2026With the end of the fall athletics season, the JV and Varsity girls’ soccer teams achieved winning records, with 6-4 for JV and 7-6-1 for Varsity.
Following a tough defeat to open the season against the Magruder Colonels, the Varsity team won three consecutive games, setting high expectations for the team for the rest of the season. In addition, the junior Varsity team has excelled thus far, including a resounding defeat of the Kennedy Cavaliers.
One of the highlights for the Varsity team is their win against the Richard Montgomery Rockets on Sep. 30. The tension in the stadium had fans on the edges of their seats, as both teams failed to score within the first half. In the 2024-2025 season, the Titans won in double overtime in the playoffs versus the Rockets, making it feel like this game had to be won to maintain their winning reputation. Luckily, the standoff was broken as sophomore Chace Tucker scored in the second half, assisted by junior Annabelle O’Connor. “I knew that the game was really important and when scoring the goal, I really was just thinking get to the ball before the defender, so I have at least a chance of scoring,” said Tucker.
The Titans managed to fend off any scoring from Richard Montgomery, resulting in a hard-fought 1-0 victory by the Titans.
Regarding her reaction to the game, Luisa Farole, senior and Varsity captain, shared, “I was really excited and super proud of our performance. We were coming off a tough week where we’d had two losses, but I had a lot of hope going into the game, seeing how our performances had been building.”
The JV portion of the girls’ soccer team also thrived throughout the season, with the Titans scoring a remarkable 39 goals. The Titans had several strong victories, including a 7-0 win against Magruder and a 10-0 win against Kennedy that was concluded early at half. Regarding team performance following the win against the Cavaliers, sophomore and JV captain Charlotte Richey, stated, “I am very proud of how we have been playing. We have had a lot of high-scoring games and a few close losses.”
With the arrival of Oct. 22, the Varsity girls’ soccer team began the playoff season. The Titans faced off against the Kennedy Cavaliers, a team they previously beat 6-2. The first round was won by the Titans, with an 8-1 win secured. Unfortunately, their 0-3 loss on Oct. 24 against the Wheaton Knights marked the end of their season. Despite the end of the season, both teams performed exceptionally and aim to thrive even further in the 2026-2027 season.
