January 16, 2026On Saturday, Oct. 18, Albert Einstein High School’s Varsity Field Hockey team ended a historic regular season at 8-4.
Fockey started the season with two dominant wins over Springbrook and Paint Branch. After a grueling regular time ending tied, the Titans went into overtime versus Springbrook, with senior Lucy Stenger finally breaking the draw with an incredible overtime goal. For the first loss of the season, they fell to Whitman 8-0, but days later, the Titans followed it up with a win, overcoming Paint Branch 6-0.
On Sept. 16, Einstein entered their rivalry game against Blair with a determination to prove their dominance. After years of coming up short, they walked away with a hard-fought victory, 1-0.
“The game was crazy because both teams were very solid and showed strong skills. Luckily, we got the win, with Maddie [Howard] scoring a terrific sweep,” said senior captain Rebekah Wright. “Asha [Goodall] has also been a very valuable player this season because of her great stick skills.”
Progressing into the season, both junior varsity and varsity had incredible wins over Rockville, with varsity coming up victorious with a score of 2-1 and JV winning 3-1, as well as 7-0 blowout wins versus Kennedy and Wheaton.
“We went into this season knowing that we wanted to prove something to ourselves and other schools,” said Wright. “And I think we did that.”
All seven senior captains were celebrated on Oct. 15, with arguably the most impressive win of the season, winning in penalty shootouts against Seneca Valley after two scoreless overtime periods. Many seniors later said that that was the first time in their four years on the team that they had ever seen a game go to a shootout.
After a spectacular season, varsity Field Hockey ended the regular season with a record of 8-4 and became MPSSA division champions, along with JV, ending with an overall winning record.
