Accessing the GFES card catalog
To find books and other resources that the GFES library contains, please follow the directions below.
Click on this link to begin: https://mcpsmd.follettdestiny.com/common/welcome.jsp?context=
Next, find Georgian Forest Elementary School in the list and click on that link
You will be brought to the Destiny Discover page. On this page, click Login in the upper right hand corner and then click on MCPSMD SSO Login in the blue box on the right. Enter in your Username (student number) and password. (you will only have to do this the first time you access this site)
In the tabs at the top of the page, click on More and then pick Back Office. You will now be on the landing page to the card catalog.
Now, click on Catalog in the blue banner at the top to get the picture you see on the left.
You can now search the catalog to find books and other resources housed in the GFES library!
Sora App

To read books on your tablet or phone, search the App Store for Sora, by OverDrive and download. Once you download the app:
Click the button that says "My School is Montgomery County Public Schools". You may need to search for it!
Then click on the button that says "Sign in using Montgomery County Public Schools". Once you do this, use your Google name and password to sign in for the first time.
Use the search bar on the top left of the screen to find a book you want, or click on one of the books on the screen.
Once you open the book you want, you have the option to borrow it or read a sample.
If the book is not available, you can put it on "HOLD". It will tell you how long you have to wait. Once the book is available for you to read, you will receive a notice. You MUST receive the book within 24 hours!
If you borrow a book, it will stay accessible in your account for 2 weeks. After 14 days, it will disappear from your account.
If you finish a book before the 14 day loan period, click on the bookshelf icon at the bottom of the book. This will take you to your bookshelf of borrowed items. Click on "Options", then click "Return". You have returned your book!
You can have 3 items checked out at one time on the Sora app.
Destiny Discover

Use your student ID and password to log in to Destiny. You can:
See what you have checked out.
Place a hold on a book you would like to check out.
Access ebooks and audiobooks through your computer.

- Important!!! Please read below!!!
When using Destiny Discover, you are first going to be asked to Log In. Use your student ID and password.
Once you log in, you can then open the book.
Some books may not open and instead you will be redirected to the Montgomery County Public Schools Digital Library website. This is due to the fact that most books in our collection are school district purchases, which means we do not have unlimited access to these books.
The site may ask that you "Place a Hold" on the book.
If this is the case, visit either Sora or the options below, for more reading options!

It was named 2019 Product of the Year, is a digital content management system, and provides easy access to eBooks, readalongs, audiobooks, databases, and videos. With just one login, users can view, utilize, and manage all of their digital resources!
