BULLYING, HARASSMENT, OR INTIMIDATION PREVENTION
To report bullying, please complete the MCPS bullying reporting form and email it to your school counselor.
Bullying, Harassment, or Intimidation is defined as any unwanted, intentional, repeated behavior by one or more individuals made with the intent to harm, intimidate, or humiliate a targeted person or group. It is characterized by a real or perceived imbalance of power or strength that is meant to control or harm the target and can be motivated by the target's actual or perceived personal characteristics or group affiliation. The behavior creates conditions that negatively affect the school environment, disrupt student learning, and foster a climate of fear that can seriously impair the physical and psychological health of students.
Bullying, harassment or intimidation can appear in many forms and can include one or more of the following:
Physical bullying involves intentionally hurting a person's body or possessions.
Verbal bullying involves intentionally saying hurtful things.
Non-Verbal bullying involves intentionally hurting a person indirectly through threatening gestures or actions.
Relational or Social bullying involves intentionally hurting a person's reputation or relationships through rumors and social exclusion.
Written, Electronic or Cyber bullying involves intentionally hurting a person with communication done in writing or through the use of an electronic device, media or technology.
