TikTok Ban Bill
By Kaylan Phillips
Tik Tok ban has officially been signed off on the bill that Tik Tok will be banned but that doesn't exactly mean Tik Tok is automatically being ban it means that there is a threat about it being ban if the the Chinese parent company of Tik Tok which is called byte dance has to sell the app in nine months which is also 270 day the exact date is January 2025 and if they do that with in the time frame Tik Tok will not disappear or Tik Tok could sue the U.S government over this legislation which could hold things up because the court would have to review the legal merits of the case and it would hold of the ban. Biden claims “it will make the world safer, and it continues america' leadership in the work.'' But very many creators are against this. Not only do they feel like the government is going against “us/the people of America '' they feel like they don't have a say in things like their voices do not matter. They are also upset because the amount of small businesses have grown so much through Tik Tok so when Tik Tok is taken away they lose not only there jobs but they look the way they advertise their business without having to pay money to get there work out there. Many Tik Tok creators who use the app to just have fun or make videos to get money or do Tik Tok ads are upset about this because not only are they losing their jobs but their words are also being mixed up and put into the wrong context all over the news because they are standing up for what they believe in. Many creators are also upset because they are passing this bill so quickly but they takes months/years to be pasted so they are wondering why it was passed so quickly, they also make a point that there are plenty of other things happening in the world and worst things are happening but they are pressed about Tik Tok being a app in America. People who don't have or like Tik Tok are making points that it is ruining kids' brains because there are children on the app and some people out there are making inappropriate or dangerous videos that kids like to copy. People are also making the point that it is a very pointless app when you can just watch reels on Instagram or shorts on YouTube or videos on Facebook, they say they all do the same thing and it's pointless to have an app that does the something everything else does. Parents have been complaining that it is a toxic app or they don't like how addicted their children get to the app. Many people have many opinions about this and either one the government and China chose will upset certain people. Although I see more people out there who are upset about the matter there are people who don't like the app and don't want it, they are just less widespread about it.
