Starting in 2025–26, the CDE is no longer mailing physical copies of the gold insignias and the black and white insignias to local educational agencies (LEAs). Instead, the CDE is transitioning to the use of a digital image of the insignias to be used on both the diploma and transcript. Once LEAs complete and submit a request form, the insignia images will be emailed directly to the requestor. LEAs should determine how the insignias will be applied onto the diploma and transcript well in advance of the end of the school year.
Depending upon an LEA’s unique factors, one of the following options may be preferable over another:
· LEAs can electronically embed the Golden State Seal directly onto the diploma or transcript prior to printing
· LEAs can choose to print the insignias themselves and affix them directly onto the diploma and transcript
Please visit the Golden State Seal Merit Diploma web page for more information. For any questions, please email GSSMD@cde.ca.gov.
1) Their ENROLLMENT exit would be E230 with a completion status of 120 (Student with Disabilities Certificate of Completion) upon completion of their high school program and earning a Certificate of Completion.
2) Subsequent enrollments, to attend your Transition Program, will have E156 (GD12ContinueEd) exit code until they age out.
3) At that point, upon completion of their transition program / reaching age 22, you will exit them with E125(PriorComplSpecEd).
Exit with code E156:
The student exited while in Grade 12 (excluding high school completion) during the last 14 days of the current academic year because of summer break or year-end intersession and the student is expected to return to complete their high school education during the summer or in the subsequent school year. This exit code is to be used for students thought to be either (1) completing all remaining graduation requirements and graduating during the summer at the same or a different school, or (2) returning to the same school after the summer break or intersession to continue Grade 12 education in the subsequent school year. If the student is completing the school year, but known to be transferring to another school or some other type of exit, use the appropriate exit code (for example T160 Transfer to another California school, T260 Transfer to Adult Education Program, or T280 Transfer to College).
This exit can only be used for students in grade 12.The student's enrollment for the next academic year should remain the same (grade 12).
