Counselor Mission: Connect a community of learners to relationships, tools, and resources, that will give students the foundation they need to become their best academically, emotionally, and socially.
Definition: The McNeil School Counselor in partnership with our Principal, Administrative Team, Teachers, Nurse, Restorative Coach, Communities in School liaison and Parents deliver our comprehensive school counseling program. Our goal is to prepare our McNeil students to become effective communicators, problem solvers, valuable citizens, peacemakers, future focused scholars, resilient learners, and mentally and physically healthy young adults. We believe our clients not only encompass the students we interact with every day but also our families, our staff, and our community as a whole. We organize our comprehensive school counseling program by implementing valuable pieces to our program including: needs assessments, a yearly program plan, timetracker, program goals, and an end of the year evaluation tool.
Rationale: The McNeil School Counseling Program is the heart of McNeil. Every stakeholder is an integral piece of our community and each student, teacher, staff member, parent, and administrator see the important value of our school counseling program. Our students are given opportunities to build, improve, and model the core social and emotional pieces that will encourage them to become honorable citizens. By using the key components of a comprehensive school counseling program the school counselor fosters student growth through guidance curriculum, individual and small group interventions, campus-wide practices, and collaboration and connection with stakeholders.
Assumptions: For the McNeil comprehensive counseling program to be effective the following must be represented:

Assumptions: For the McNeil comprehensive counseling program to be effective the following must be represented:
- A certified school counselor who has an adequate budget to purchase books, curriculum, and other counseling program needs.
- Partnership with all key stakeholders throughout the community and school including administrators, teachers, parents, and district counselors.
- The ability for all students to have access to the school counselor through guidance, groups, and Individual meetings.
- Key program pieces that help develop, maintain, guide, build and reflect on the effectiveness of the school counseling program.
- Clearly defined goals that integrate campus needs that can be found in the campus improvement plan, needs assessments, and academic data.

Program goals
Program goals
To develop school counseling program goals the McNeil school counselor uses several different needs assessments at the end of each school year. This data allows the school counselor to ask key stakeholders throughout McNeil valuable questions that will help drive timely goals for the following school year. The McNeil school counselor also uses assessment data, discipline reports, student surveys, and parent feedback to develop goals that will influence the entire school. By gathering data every year the McNeil school counselor is able to create goals that are specific, measurable, and timely to the campus needs.

At the end of each school year, In McKinney ISD, we create an informative and key document that helps us evaluate our school counseling program. Our annual report helps us gather information, collect our counseling program data, and share our story to key stakeholders. This report truly shows how valuable our role is to not only our program but also our school and community. It also provides the school counselor with information to help guide the comprehensive school counseling program goals for the following year.
