This is my fourth year as a school counselor and my first year at McDowell High School. Last year I was at McDowell Virtual Academy helping students navigate online education. I love being a school counselor and working with students during their high school journey. I am a gipsy at heart and have spent most of my life traveling the country. I was born in Phoenix, AZ, however, I moved to Panama City Beach, FL when I was in 6th grade. For me, PCB is home. After high school, I married my high school sweetheart as he joined the Army at 18. We traveled the military life as he was an Army Ranger for about 8 years before he ended his career and we moved to Charleston, SC.

I graduated from Georgia Southern-Armstrong, with a B.S. in Psychology and then continued my education with American Military University to obtain my Master's in Education: School Counseling. I initially took a job as a regional manager with the SC Dept. of Employment and Workforce managing employees of the unemployment division. However, my heart was always pulling me to help students find their own path in life and highlight opportunities so they can become the best versions of themselves.

After working in South Carolina as a School Counselor for two years, my husband (who is now an ICU nurse) decided to become a travel nurse. From 2020-2022 we traveled the country with our twin's. When our fun was coming to an end we decided to pick a place on the map...and here we are--(well actually in Lake Lure).

I am super excited to work with the incoming class of 2027 for the next 4 years!! If you ever need to reach me please don't hesitate.

This is my sixth year as a school counselor and I love working with the students and the community in McDowell.  I was born and raised in Spartanburg, SC. After graduating from high school, I attended Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC to obtain my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Prior to finishing my Master in Education in School Counseling through Liberty University, I was the Career Development Facilitator and Family Life Educator at Landrum High School.

I relocated to WNC in 2017. My husband Jeremy and I have 5 wonderful children, ages 5-23, and our dog Ruger. I love spending time with my family camping, kayaking, going to the lake and the beach. I also enjoy cooking, baking, and crafting.

I am passionate about helping students create their personal pathway whether that is career, military, community college or a 4 year university. My goal is to help each student become a successful and productive member of society by helping them realize their full potential. I love the moment when a student recognizes what they can accomplish -it is much like a light bulb turning on. I want every student to recognize their abilities and accomplish greatness.

I am excited to continue working with this group of students to see who they become as they mature.

If you have questions or need to reach me, please call 828-652-7920 ext. 313 or email me at Lyndsay.Morris@mcdowell.k12.nc.us

Mrs. Christine Houlihan

This is my fourth year as a school counselor and I am so thrilled to be a part of McDowell High School! I love being able to serve and support the students here. I was born and raised in Lilburn, Georgia and attended college in Birmingham, AL at Samford University. I have always enjoyed working with students and was a Young Life leader throughout high school and college. I graduated with a degree in Psychology and went on to work for Young Life after college. I then moved to Colorado for 4 years and attended Adams State University where I earned a Master of Arts in School Counseling.

My husband and I have recently relocated to Western North Carolina and are so excited to be here! We love the outdoors and fell in love with hiking and skiing while living in Colorado. We are very excited to explore beautiful North Carolina.  We love to travel and spend time with both our families and friends. Some of my hobbies include reading, cooking, and baking.

I am honored to get to be a part of students' lives at McDowell High School. I believe that every student can succeed and is unique, and I am looking forward to helping support students as they progress  through high school. My goal is to help students be their best selves by learning more about themselves, their interests, and their goals so that they leave McDowell High School prepared and with a plan for their future.
