HOBY State Leadership Seminar

HOBY's flagship program allows high school sophomores to recognize their leadership talents and apply them in becoming effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, workplace and community. Students attend three- or four-day seminars and participate in hands-on leadership activities, meet leaders in their state, and explore their own personal leadership skills while learning how to make a positive impact in their community. The seminar curriculum is based on the Social Change Model of Leadership and develops leadership from three perspectives: Personal Leadership, Group Leadership, and Leadership for Society. - See more at:

Tennessee Tech University and East Tennessee State University will be offering a joint degree in general engineering includes coursework in electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering. Freshman admission requires a 3.05 high school GPA, 20 ACT Composite Score and 22 ACT math sub-score.

The American Red Cross is looking for community-minded high school and college students who are interested in a leadership and scholarship opportunity.

Leaders Save Lives is a great program for students who are leaders at their schools, students who are looking for scholarships and students who want to build their resumes.

Here's what students can gain from the Leaders Save Lives program:

Our Mission

Our mission as the school counseling program at McDowell High School, is to provide students with a comprehensive program focused on helping them succeed in their academic, career, and personal lives. Through preventive and remedial support programs; academic and career planning; partnerships with parents, faculty, and other community members; and effective data analysis; the school counselors at McDowell High School will help all students become productive citizens and life-long learners.
