As a native to McDowell County, I am proud to be able to return to my roots and serve the students at McDowell High School. I have had the privilege to work as a school counselor at McDowell High School since 2004. Prior to that, I worked at East Burke High School and WA Young Elementary school. I earned my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Western Carolina University.

I have been married for 22 years to Darren, am the mother to 4 amazing kids, and have a cat (Spencer) and a dog (Mollie). Family time is my favorite time! I enjoy supporting my kids in their extracurricular activities - cheerleading and travel baseball. My hobbies include scrapbooking, crafting, and rearranging my house!

As a school counselor, I enjoy working with students and helping them "figure it all out". I want every student to graduate from McDowell High with a plan - college, work, military, travel..... a PLAN for their future.

In addition to my role as school counselor, I am also the Varsity Cheer Coach. I volunteer in my community - serving as Event Lead for the McDowell County Relay for Life, member of the McDowell Titan Athletic Booster club board, and volunteer with Project Christmas.

I love McDowell County and I am proud to be a member of the Titan Family!

You can contact me at 828-652-7920 ext. or email me at Kendall.Waugh@mcdowell.k12.nc.us

I am excited to be a part of the School Counseling Program at McDowell High School. I received my training as a School Counselor from Eastern Illinois University (M.Ed. in School Counseling). Additionally, before working as a counselor I served as a Special Education, Health and PE teacher for five years. As a counselor I emphasize overall wellness and work to facilitate communication between students, families, and teachers to help students.

I enjoy being outdoors and taking advantage of the wonderful activity opportunities in Western North Carolina.

In addition to my role as a School Counselor, I am also the Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach and an Assistant Coach for Track and Field.

You can reach me at 828-652-7920 or Brandon.Smith@Mcdowell.k12.nc.us

Mrs. Lyndsay Morris

This is my first year as a school counselor and I am excited to be able to serve the students here at McDowell High School. I was born and raised in Spartanburg, SC. After graduating from high school, I attended Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC to obtain my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.

Although this is my first year as a school counselor, this is my seventh year in the educational setting. Prior to finishing my Master in Education in School Counseling through Liberty University, I was the Career Development Facilitator and Family Life Educator at Landrum High School.

I am passionate about helping others create their personal pathway whether that is career, military, community college or a 4 year university. My goal is to help student's become successful, productive members of society by helping them realize their full potential.

I relocated to WNC last September. I am married and have 4 children , ages 7-18 and 1 on the way. I love spending time with my family camping and kayaking. I also enjoy cooking, baking, and crafting.

If you have questions or need to reach me, please call 828-652-7920 ext. 313 or email me at Lyndsay.Morris@mcdowell.k12.nc.us
