The Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program is a state-based, national non-profit organization dedicated to helping high school students of promise who have experienced challenging or traumatic life experiences achieve success through graduation.
JAG is a resiliency-building workforce program that helps students learn in-demand employability skills and provides a bridge to post-secondary education and career advancement opportunities. Currently there are 125 JAG programs available throughout Indiana.
JAG students receive adult mentoring while in school and one year of follow-up counseling after graduation.
Indiana’s program consistently graduates approximately 95% of participants and many students choose to continue their education after high school. The JAG program is funded through grants provided by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
Thank you to Hendricks College Network, Vincennes University STEM team at MADE, and Ivy Tech's IT and CyberSecurity team for their time and talent to make this focused field experience happen.
On December 5th, 2024, our first Steering Committee / Advisory Council convened. This meeting focused on critical updates and updating internal and external stakeholders about our progress in our district’s transformation to be more career and community connected. The agenda included sharing updates from tactical teams, outlining progress on Year 1 goals, and addressing outstanding “To-Dos” to ensure milestones are met. A student panel Q&A, with questions asked by advisory board members, provided valuable insights into student experiences and priorities. The meeting concluded with a discussion on funding sponsorship levels, exploring strategies to secure and optimize financial support for future projects.
Over the past two years there have been a lot of changes in the realm of preparing students for life after graduation. We've taken steps to make sure that Mill Creek Community Schools are on the right track. We were able to get a head start on the changes from the state by being one of seven districts that received a 3E (Explore, Engage, Experience) Grant from the Indiana State Department of Education. We were able to re-envision what our Portrait of a Graduate would look like with the new expectations, create a new Master Plan three years out to continue in our pursuit to become more career and community connected, and begin that "Year One" implementation during the 2024-25 school year. We're continuing to build and look forward to preparing students to be successful the Monday following graduation.
On Monday, Mill Creek Community School Corporation, held an informational event about their new Cascade Middle School World Changers program. It's a partnership between nonprofit organizations and students. In 6th grade, students will learn about and "SEE" local nonprofit organizations and what they do. Then, in 7th grade, students will "DO" something alongside nonprofits. Finally, in 8th grade, students will create or complete a serviced based learning capstone project to "CHANGE" the world by bringing awareness, advocating, or fundraising to the nonprofit. We're still looking for more organizations to partner with if your organization is interested. Please reach out to Matt Miller or mmiller@mccsc.k12.in.us
Thank you so much to all of those that attended! Special thank you to Hendricks County Community Foundation for their lunch sponsorship and HCN - Hendricks College Network for hosting the event at MADE at Plainfield.
On May 22, the MCCSC Transformation Team presented our Master Plan to representatives from Ford Next Generation Learning. This plan ensures accountability and sustainability over the next three years and beyond. This plan encompasses the work over the past two year.
Formerly named the Cascade Career and College App Day, we're broadening our horizons and continuing to expand. We've changed the name of this year's day to the 3E Day: Employ, Enroll, and Enlist!
In partnership with HCN and the Hendricks County Community Foundation, we've set Thursday, September 26, 2024, as the official date of the 2024 day.

In early March, Chris Ponsler, Hendricks College Network (HCN), Kale Blickenstaff, Cascade Middle School Principal, and Matt Miller, MCCSC Director of CCR, embarked on a trip to visit the College and Career Academies of Akron Public Schools, Akron Ohio. Akron is designated PreK-12 Ford Next Generation Learning school. We were able to see the bigger picture of a K-12 district and how it relates to our process at Mill Creek.
November 6, 2023 - We have now moved into Master Planning! Master Planning will be 3 days spread out over 3-4 months of tactical team work.
On October 9th, 2023, MCCSC had a Professional Development Day for teachers. For half of the day, high school and middle school teachers went on Teacher Field Experiences to MADE@Plainfield, Decker's Brands, Niagara Bottling, IU Health Integrated Services Center, and GEODIS. Teachers looked for connections between industry and the classroom.
