VCAL at McClelland

VCAL VISION FOR 2021

Work safe, work ready and successful in my pathway.

VCAL at McClelland is a thriving and meaningful pathway for students on the way to discovering their dream career.

In the 15 years that the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning has been delivered at McClelland College, it has grown from a single portable classroom at the front of the school with a handful of students to seven full classes of student across three year levels in a dedicated flexible learning space.

Students have completed vocational courses in certificates ranging from engineering to early learning, building and construction to plumbing, hairdressing to hospitality, screen and media to visual arts, and still the list goes on each year. This is a pathway for students that are not destined for the more academic rigor of VCE and a university placement after school. University is still possible with a VCAL pathway, however it does take longer.

VCAL is designed for students who prefer a vocational pathway. Students that are visual learners. Students that work with their hands. Students that learn by doing. Students that need to apply their work to something practical.

We are very proud of our ever-growing VCAL program at McClelland. The program here is recognised by local employers as one that produces capable, confident and motivated employees. Read our employer testimonials below.
