Health & Safety

At McClelland, we take the health and safety of our students very seriously.

All students must undertake some simple steps before they are are allowed to complete projects or SWL.

All students must have completed their:

  • Safe@Work General module certificate

  • Safe@Work Industry module certificate

  • Health and Safety week (including inductions to the Cafe, Salon, Media Room and North Landing)

  • Risk Assessment document and HSR meeting

To add to this, we have created a formalised Health and Safety process within VCAL.

From each class, we have elected Health and Safety Delegates. These delegates are required to spot hazards and report them in their fortnightly meetings. Two Health and Safety Representatives oversee the Delegates and report any issues to the College Health and Safety Rep, Mr Phil Holt. Mr Holt then has regular meetings with the Principal, Amadeo Ferra, to make sure the College is work safe.

In their first week of school, all students will undertake a Health and Safety Week where they will create a common risk assessment document and identify hazards. The HS Team will then assign a selection of hazards to each class and they will spend the week creating appropriate control measures to mitigate the hazards.
