The second semester MCA 2023 batch students attended the orientation programme of YIP 6.0 organised by IIC of U.C college, Aluva in association with K-DISC at Physics Block on Feb 22, 2024. 10 students of MCA participated in this programme.

The department has conducted a Counseling session on the topic "Empowering Mind-Embracing Changes" for our second semester batch(2023 admn) on February 28,2024 at 2.30 pm at MCA conference hall.The session was led by Ms.Fathima Abdhulla , Jeevani Counselor,U C College,Aluva The session aimed to address the psychological challenges faced by students during their academic journey, especially in adapting to changes and managing stress . She collected the feedbacks from the students and evaluate the psychological remarks from them.Students were highly engaged throughout the session, reflecting on their own experiences and sharing insights  

The department has arranged a workshop on "Motivation,Soft skill Training and Team building" to our second year batch(2023 admn) on 1st and 2nd March 2024 at Santhigiri Ashram ,Edathala.This workshop was designed to enhance students' interpersonal skills, boost their motivation, and foster effective team collaboration.  Also helps to understand the importance of teamwork in both academic and professional settings. The workshop was handled by Mr.Sooraj Abraham , Soft Skills Trainer.

Ms.Sherna Mohan, Ms.Divya P.B, Ms.Lee Juliet George accompanied the students in the Ashram for those two days. Many students expressed their appreciation for the practical exercises and found the sessions to be highly engaging and informative. Suggestions for future workshops included more in-depth sessions on specific soft skills and additional team-building activities.  

The department conducted an educational tour for the Fourth Semester (2022 Admn Sbatch) students from 3rd March 2024 to 7th March 2024.Sixty Seven students with two faculty and one lab assistant were the participants.

The outreach and Women Empowerment Cell of MCA department organizes international women's day on March 6th and 7th ,2024 based on the theme "#INSPIREINCLUSION" with various events like 

1.Self Defence Program :- Hanshi N.Vijayakumar, Technical Director and General Secretary, New- Kai- Shein- Kan- Shito- Ryo -Karate , School and Martial arts academy India was the resource person. 3 assistants were accompanied with him. The primary aim of the program was to equip students with basic self-defence techniques, increase their awareness of personal safety, and boost their confidence in handling potentially dangerous situations. 

Program Content :

1. Introduction to Self-Defence 

2. Physical Techniques -Basic punches, kicks, and knee strikes ,Techniques to break free from grabs and holds,Defensive Moves  etc

3. Situational Awareness -Reading body language and recognizing dangerous situations 

This program empowered  our students to protect themselves and respond effectively to potential threats 

2.Flash Mob :-  As part of the Women's Day celebrations, the Outreach and Women Empowerment Cell organized a flash mob at MCA Block. The program aimed to raise awareness about women's rights, celebrate the achievements of women, and promote gender equality through a vibrant and energetic dance performance . The dance routine lasted for approximately 15 minutes  featuring a mix of contemporary, hip-hop, and traditional dance forms. A total of  20 students participated in the flash mob. Students appreciated the opportunity to showcase their talents and work together for a common goal .

Mr.Abru Abraham Pramod , (MCA 2023 Admn batch) who is a player of UC College Roll Ball Men's team has secured 3rd position at MG University Intercollegiate Roll Ball Championship.

The second semester students of MCA 2023 batch organized an Iftar Party to celebrate the spirit of Ramadan on March 21, 2024 in the department. The aim is to  bring together students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds to break their fast and share a meal.The venue was decorated with traditional Ramadan decorations, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.A variety of traditional Iftar dishes were prepared, including dates, fruits, samosas, biryani, and sweets .The event was attended by 80 participants, including students, faculty, staff etc.

The department in association with Muziris Softech Pvt Ltd conducted a campus placement drive on 5th April 2024 for our fourth semester students(2022 admn Batch). Around 35 students participated for the exam.

NAAC Peer team visit on April 1 & 16, 2024

The department of MCA conducted an online add-on course sessions in association with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) during Apr 19, 22-25, 2024 which is focused on Robotics, aimed at equipping students with advanced skills and practical knowledge in this rapidly evolving field. The course spanned over  5 days and was designed to cater to students interested in robotics applications across industries.Mr.GEO PAUL Technical Lead , Mr.SATHEESH CHANDRAN Senior Engineer, Mr.Sreeraj N R ML Engineer were the resource persons.

The primary objective of the course was to provide students with comprehensive insights into robotics technologies, covering both theoretical foundations and practical implementation.The curriculum was meticulously structured by TCS experts and encompassed the key areas - Robotics and QC automation, ML and Defect identification Methodology , Data Annotation , Model training , Model testing and fine tuning techniques . Students gained hands-on experience in designing and programming robots, applying their skills to tackle real-world scenarios.

Passing out ceremony is a day devoted to celebrating an important point in students' lives . It was held at MLP conference center conducted by our department at 10.00am on June 26, 2024 to final year students 2022 Admn Batch. The ceremony started with a prayer followed by welcome address by Mrs. Sherna Mohan , Head of the Department for esteemed dignitaries on the dais, students and faculty members. Prof.Dr.P G Sankaran,Vice Chancellor,CUSAT was the chief guest. Dr.Mini Alice, Principal presided over the function. Dr.A.V Alex felicitate the programme. The speech was followed by certificate distribution to the graduates by the chief guest. 119 students attended the event. The meeting came to an end with vote of thanks by Ms.Thanu Sudeesh, Asst.Professor MCA. The ceremony concluded with group photographs of students, faculty, and chief guest, followed by lunch in the lobby of  MCA seminar hall.

The department(Training and Placement Cell) conducted a session on the topic " Do's & Don'ts in an interview " for our third semester batch (2023 admn) on 22,23 July 2024 , 2.00 PM at MCA Conference Hall. Dr.K P Ouseph ,IFS, Manager,UC College,Aluva ,was the resource person.

The department in association with Yatnam Technologies Pvt Ltd conducted a campus placement drive on 19th June 2024 for our fourth semester students(2022 admn Batch). Around 20 students participated for the exam.

Dr.Shine K George , Associate Professor,MCA,UC College conducting session on "SDLC" for our third semester(2023 admn) batch students on July 25, 2024 (10.30 am-12.30 pm) The session aims  to provide  students with a comprehensive understanding of project development, focusing on the various phases of software development and the principles of software testing.

Resumes create your first impression to potential employers.Placement cell of MCA Department in association with Ms.Seethal,Placement in charge , U C College , Aluva conducted a session on "Resume Preparation" on  July 25, 2024 @ 2.30 pm at MCA conference hall.Students received guidance on how to prepare a good resume to make a positive first impression for the employers.

2023 admn batch students arranged a grant farewell to our outgoing students( 2024 pass out batch) on 26th June 2024,10.00 am at MCA Conference Hall.Farewell is basically a get to gather kind of celebration for the seniors who will be soon steeping out of that particular institute. Hence juniors wish their seniors a good luck for their next big adventures in various forms like singing, dancing, with motivational speeches or by felicitating them.Later the final year students were asked to give their opinions about the institution and the staffs.The meeting came to a close at 1.00 pm followed by lunch.

The MCA dept  in association with IEDC cell,UC College Aluva conducted a seminar on "Unlocking Digital Marketing:Essential for beginners" on 7th August 2024 , 10.30 am at MCA Seminar hall.Mr.Mansoor Majeed,Programmer Analyst, Systalent Software's was the resource person.

In celebration of Friendship Day,MCA Association and Sports cell conducted a Treasure Hunt Competition on 7/8/2024,Wednesday at 3 PM.This event is a fantastic opportunity to have fun, work together, and strengthen bonds of friendship within our campus community. 

The Alumni Association of our department has  organized "ALUMNI MEET 2024" a programme to facilitate, consolidate and coordinate Alumni Activities at MCA Conference Hall in on 10th August 2024.The alumni meet is to reconnect with the Alumni and celebrate their success and various achievements. Around 63 alumni members participated over the meeting.

The department conducted a session on “Software Requirement Specification Document Preparation " for the third semester(2023 admn batch) on 9th August 2024.Dr.Lince Rachel Varghese, Assistant Professor,MCA,Union Christian College was the resource person.The session aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed to produce effective SRS documents that facilitate successful software development and project management.

Independence Day celebrations heighten the patriotic fervor amongst the students. The activities on the day are aimed at making the children realize the importance of life and liberty that we attained through the sacrifice of numerous patriots and leaders.In celebration of Independence Day,MCA Association and Sports cell conducted a Food Exhibition,Patriotic Song and Patriotic Costume Competition on 16/8/2024, Friday at 12.30 PM.

An online live demo session of DRILLBIT plagiarism detection software was conducted by the team for MCA teaching and Non Teaching staffs on 19th August 2024 ,3.30 pm at MCA Conference hall.In the session the resource person discussed about how to use the plagiarism software efficiently.The session came to a close at 4.15 pm.

Placement cell of MCA Department in association with Ms.Seethal,Placement in charge , U C College , Aluva conducted a session on "Interview Preparation" on 25th August 2024,2.00 PM at MCA conference hall.Students received guidance on how to prepare a for doing self introduction during the interview.

Ms.Amrutha Karthikeyan and Ms.Lee Juliet George , Assistant Professor,MCA,UC College conducting session on "UML Diagrams" for our third semester(2023 admn) batch students on August 22, 2024 (10.30 am-12.30 pm) The session aims  to provide  students with a comprehensive understanding of understanding and effectively using UML so that they can  improve the quality and clarity of software designs. 

The batch of 2024-'26 was formally inaugurated on 2nd Sept 2024 at MCA Department,Union Christian College, Aluva. The ceremony was attended by the new batch of students along with their parents,faculty, and staff of department at MCA seminar hall.Mr Dinesh P Thampi,Vice President & head,TCS was the chief guest.The inaugural ceremony starts with prayer service followed by formal inaugural function.Respected chief guest delivered the inaugural address.The ceremony continued with Key note address for newly admitted students delivered by our chief guest and a session for parents by Ms.Syna Soosan Abraham,Assistant Professor,Psycology dept,UC College,Aluva.The meeting came to an end with vote of thanks followed by Lunch.

A session on "Building Effective Connections and Fostering Collaboration" was conducted at PJ Auditorium on 3rd Sept 2024 from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm.  Mr.Sandeep Konnanath,Chief Executive,Glowmind Training Consultancy Pvt Ltd was the resource person .He discussed about various strategies and best practices for establishing strong connections and promoting collaborative efforts.

A session on "Cyber Security:Protecting Your Digital Footprint" was conducted at MCA Conference hall on 4th Sept 2024 from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm onwards . Mr.Thalhath P M,Senior Civil Police Officer,Cyber Cell,Ernakulam Rural,Aluva was the resource person.In the session he discussed about various security measures like two factor authentication,review and modification of privacy settings on social media accounts .

A session on "Insights from frontline:A fireside chat with EY GDS" was conducted at MCA Conference hall on 4th Sept 2024 from 1.30 pm to 3.30  pm. Viswasanthi DEvelopment Foundation in association with EY GDS organised the program.

The MCA Department in association with plan@earth organized a Workshop on "Repurposable used Plastics" was conducted as part of induction program to our newly joined students at PJ Auditorium on 5th sept 2024 .9.30 am.

A session on "Bridge the Gap:Speak,Listen,Succeed" was conducted at PJ Auditorium on 5th Sept 2024 from 11.00 am to 12.30  pm. Ms.Sheetal V R,Placement Officer,UC College,Aluva was the resource person.

A Mentor-Mentee session was conducted by the department on 5th Sept 2024 , 1.30 pm at PJ Auditorium to ensure structured, supportive, and productive interactions between teachers and students.

Dr.Bindu M,HoD,Physical Education Department conducted a yoga training session for our newly admitted students on 5th sept 2024 ,3.00 PM at PJ Auditorium.The yoga session successfully met its objectives by providing students with a valuable opportunity to relax, rejuvenate, and improve their physical and mental health.

The department in association with Electriflex Technologies Pvt Ltd conducted a campus placement drive(Screening Test) on 23rd Sept 2024 for our third semester students(2023 admn Batch). 

A "Toastmasters Club Demo Session" will be conducted for 1st-year MCA students on 8th October 2024 at 1:30 PM by TMOD - Rajeev Srinivas, DTM and Educational Session by Mr.Dileep Choyallally .

"Setting Career Goals : Vision,Planning & Action" a Session conducted by Training & Placement Cell in association with Experion Technologies India Pvt Ltd for our Third Semester students (2023 Admn Batch).

As part of the curriculum, the Department of MCA, in collaboration with Konfidence Training Center, organized four employability skill training programs for the first-semester students of the 2024 admission batch, starting from October 23, 2024.

The software development cell(SDC) of our department has conducted a one day hands on training session on "Flutter-Mobile App Development" to our third semester (2023 admn batch) students on 26th oct 2024 at MCA Lab.

As part of the curriculum, the Department of MCA,organized employability skill training programs for the third-semester students of the 2023 admission batch, starting from October 23, 2024.

The Department  celebrated MCA Day on 12th Nov 2024 to mark the accomplishments and growth of the MCA program and to foster a sense of unity among students, faculty, and alumni. The event aimed at recognizing the achievements of the department, showcasing the talents of students, and promoting the significance of computer applications in the modern world.

The department in association with Muziris Softech Pvt Ltd conducted a campus placement drive on 15th November 2024 for our fourth semester students(2023 admn Batch). Around 35 students participated for the exam.

The Department of MCA organized a highly engaging Alumni Interaction Session with the students of the MCA program. The event was held on 22nd Nov 2024, and aimed to bridge the gap between current students and alumni by providing valuable insights into academic and professional journeys, as well as offering guidance on career paths. 

The MCA department in association with our Alumni Mr.Azad and Ajeesh selected students from first semester(2024 admn) for "Campus Coders Hub".Also Mr.Reghunath explained the requirements for developing "Palliative Care Support System".Mr.Azad and Mr.Ajeesh,Alumni,MCA will be assisting students in developing the software.

For students from first semester batch(2024 admn) has attended and presented a seminar on topic "Human Life in the era of AI" on 27th November 2024 conducted at "Pontifical Institute,Aluva".
