Section V
Program Curriculum
Program Curriculum
The Texas Model established four general curricular content areas:
Interpersonal Effectiveness
Intrapersonal Effectiveness
Personal Health and Safety
Postsecondary Education and Career Readiness
In this section, it will be explained how we addressed intrapersonal effectiveness using writing prompts, lessons, and emotional intelligence challenges to address self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills.
Data used to select the intrapersonal effectiveness lessons was gathered by the teacher assessments/surveys, administrator feedback, counseling advisory council, and other stakeholders.
Collaboration with Stakeholders
The Seguin Elementary School Counseling Department collaborates with community partners, stakeholders, parents, and staff to strengthen the counseling department. This partnership is vital to building emotional, social, and academic intelligence in all of our students. Family and community collaboration is an essential component of any comprehensive school counseling program. In building these partnerships, we are able to provide resources and opportunities to our students that would never be possible without the support of these stakeholders. It takes a family-like relationship, and at Seguin Elementary School we have one of the strongest ones. Every individual brings a unique perspective and resources to boost our students to the level necessary to succeed. Our students face many challenges, however, we are blessed to have the BEST community, team, and family at McAllen ISD and in the Rio Grande Valley to help our students with everything they need.
