Direct Service Highlight
All were taught two lessons from the Zones of Regulation curriculum. The Zones were used for individual and group counseling as well. These lessons helped students become self-aware about their emotions and identify the color their emotions matched. The students are then taught self-regulation skills that can be used when triggered.
Prior to the lesson on self-regulation and triggers, only 30% of students could name two or more self-regulation strategies. This data was used to drive lessons and small groups on the Zones of Regulation. After the lessons were taught 80% of students could identify two or more self-regulation skills. Teachers have reported that students are able to use a strategy when becoming upset.
