Table with the Friends and Book Sales at Comic Con — June 6th
Come find the Friends of the Martinsburg Public Library at Comic Con on June 6th at the Downtown Martinsburg Public Library! Hosted by MBCPL, Comic Con is a free, family-friendly celebration of costumes, comics, and community fun for all ages and the Friends will be there in a big way!
Stop by our table to learn about the Friends, pick up some library info, and find out how you can get involved with your local library. You can also browse our Friends book sale and pick up a great read while you are there. Whether you are a longtime Friend or hearing about us for the first time, we would love to meet you!

MBCPL is looking for volunteers to help run this year's Comic Con at the Downtown Martinsburg Public Library on June 6th, and they would love to have you on the team! If you are interested in volunteering, the first step is attending the Comic Con Volunteer Orientation on May 21st.

Pollinator Garden Planting Day
Join the Friends of the Martinsburg Public Library as we plant our beautiful new native pollinator garden in the front plaza of the Martinsburg Public Library! Made possible by a grant from The Monarch Alliance, a program of the Potomac Valley Audubon Society, this garden will support our local ecosystem and bring color, life, and learning to our library community for years to come.
🦋 No gardening experience needed, just bring your enthusiasm and your love for our library! This is a wonderful opportunity to get your hands in the dirt and help create something truly special for Martinsburg.

Join the Friends of the Martinsburg Public Library as we prepare the garden beds in the front plaza of the Martinsburg Public Library for our beautiful new native pollinator waystation garden! This is a wonderful opportunity to get involved, work alongside fellow Friends members, and help create something truly special for our library community.
🌿 No gardening experience needed, just bring your gloves, water, and a willingness to dig in!

Earth Day in the Plaza!
Earth Day Celebration, Books, Community, and Container Gardening
Come celebrate Earth Day with us in the Martinsburg Public Library Plaza on Saturday, April 25th! 🌎
FOMPL Members will be set up from 10 AM to 1 PM with books from our Friends book sale!
Eastern Panhandle Policies Over Parties (EPPOP) will be hosting a Container Gardening Mini-Workshop from 11 AM to 1 PM where neighbors can learn to plant vegetables or flowers in containers. 🌱

We Need Trucks!
Pollinator Plant Pickup Day
Join the Friends of the Martinsburg Public Library as we pick up the native pollinator plants for our new library garden! We are looking for Friends members with trucks or large vehicles to help transport the plants to the Martinsburg Public Library plaza ahead of Planting Day on May 16th.
🚛 This is a quick but important volunteer opportunity that helps make our pollinator garden possible. If you have a truck or large vehicle and want to be part of this special project, we would love your help!

Ribbon Cutting and Opening Day Celebration
Ribbon Cutting and Opening Day Celebration
Join MBCPL and the Friends of the Martinsburg Public Library as we welcome the community back for a special Ribbon Cutting and Opening Day Celebration on Wednesday, February 19 from 11 AM to 1 PM.
The event will begin with a ribbon cutting, followed by a light reception and time to reconnect in the library. After the reception, families are invited to enjoy Story Time in the Children’s Library and a Button Making Activity hosted by the Friends.
Whether you’ve been counting down the days or are stopping by to see what’s new, we’d love to celebrate this milestone with you. Come for the ribbon cutting and stay for the creativity and community connection.

Come celebrate the season with the Friends of the Martinsburg Public Library during Christmas on Main, happening Saturday, December 6 from 11 AM to 3 PM at MPL Plaza. We’ll be there with cheerful smiles, library-themed goodies, and information about how you can support your local library through the Friends!

Fall Library Plaza Cleanup

Help us get the Library Plaza ready for fall! Join the Friends of the Martinsburg Public Library for a morning of light outdoor cleanup as we rake leaves, pull weeds, and pick up litter around the plaza.
Please bring your own water bottle and gardening gloves, and wear clothes that can get dirty. Whether you can stay for 20 minutes or the full two hours, we’ll find a task for you. Every helping hand makes a difference!
