The IPDP, or Individual Professional Development Plan is required to be on file the Maumee City LPDC for all educators that possess an 8-year teaching certificate or 5-year teaching license (this also includes administrator's licenses). An IPDP is also required of any staff member that possesses a Permanent teaching certificate, but wants to earn "Blue Sheet" credit for the school year, or advance on the salary schedule (see MEA contract).
The purpose of the IPDP is to guide each educator on the type of professional development on is going to use to renew their certificate or license. An IPDP is valid for a maximum of 5 years, and will always expire in May of the year that their certificate/license expires.
In order to have a valid IPDP, an educator must submit a written proposal of said plan to the LPDC committee for approval. Once your plan has been approved by the committee, you can start working on professional development credits that will be used for renewing your certificate/license. You cannot count any professional development toward renewal of a license if it is not done before having your plan reviewed and approved by the LPDC committee.
An educator can revise their IPDP at any time during the 5 years that the plan is valid.
You will complete your IPDP form on the PDTracker website.
1. Complete any personal information.
2. Use the OTES standards (scroll down to see). Use OH-Teacher standards.
3. The LPDC requires a minimum of three (3) goals.
4. You should write SMART goals for each area. Your goals should be:
S - Specific: What are you going to learn about?
M - Measurable: How often will you use this learning In your work with students?
A - Action-oriented: How do you plan to attain this knowledge?
R - Relevant (What will students be able to do as a result of your professional development? How will your professional development benefit the students with whom you work?)
T - Timed and tracked. This should be the duration of your license.
When writing a SMART goal, think of writing a single sentence for each of the five parts shown above, and put these five sentences together as a paragraph. The committee has developed a template to facilitate the process of writing a SMART goal for the purposes of the IPDP.
